The York is a model house plan styled to represent the architectural profile of an early colonial planter’s home from 17th century Virginia. Smith’s Fort Plantation, built in 1654, is an example of a home of this period that remains standing today. It was originally built by Thomas Rolfe, son of John Rolfe and Pocahontas, in Surry County, Virginia.
